It has been suggested in the past that most men will always cheat if given the opportunity. That may have been true in past decades but that has changed dramatically or maybe it is just more acknowledged that women will cheat on their husbands, maybe as much as men.
There are probably as many reasons for cheating on your spouse as there are married (or committed) people in the world. It is hard to 100% fit every person into the pigeon hole reasons that husbands and wives cheat on their mates.
With all that said her are reasons why spouses cheat.
This can happen at most any time in a persons life but it normally happens when men or women are approaching middle age or are middle aged. With men it is referred as a mid-life crisis or having a “trophy wife” or girlfriend. With women it is called the cougar syndrome.
Men will divorce their wife of many years and marry a younger, usually attractive woman. Or they will start an extamarital affair with a younger woman. Women may either divorce their husband and either marry or have an affair with a much younger, usually attractive man.
This can be to try and re-affirm their attractiveness, fulfill sexual fantasies, just relieve a boredom that is either real or imagined or all of these. Many people get used to the routine of marriage and some after so many years feel that they are missing out on something.
Many mates with all the pressure of marriage (kids, work, finances and many more) just stop having an interest in sex. Or the sex gets very routine and just isn’t as much fun or exciting as it used to be.
Since this could be one of the main reasons that brought the two people together this can be a big problem. Many men and women cite the need for more or varied sex life and sex partners as the main reason that they strayed from the marriage.
Financial difficulties is one of the main reasons that both sexes state as the reason for dissatisfaction with their marriage that led to extramarital affairs. The stress created by money problems causes anger and arguments that will drive a husband and wife apart and cause one or both to seek outside attention from another man or woman.
Many people marry after they have only known their partner for very short period of time. This can cause problems with expectations from the marriage. Maybe you met your future mate, the sex was fabulous, you liked the other person’s personality and you got married in a quick trip to Las Vegas.
In all that you never spoke about what each one of you wanted out of the marriage and what each of your individual expectations of married life was. This can cause dissatisfaction with your spouse and then you meet someone new and you know the end to that story.
These are just a mere few reasons that spouses cheat on each other. There are as many more reasons for infidelity as there are people.
